Making technology accessible to people with disabilities
ITPI has recently contributed an opinion at the request of the Knesset Research and Information Center (RIC) to a review (in Hebrew) on the issue of making technology accessible to people with disabilities, put together by the former.
The RIC review was prepared for the Knesset’s Science and Technology Committee meeting, which took place on September 14, on the topic of: Narrowing the digital gap – making technology and technology-based services accessible to people with disabilities.
Various Government ministries and agencies, as well as civil society organisations, took part in the meeting. Access Israel‘s founder, Yuval Wagner, has delivered a presentation on the fundamental importance of making technological tools and services accessible to the community of people with disabilities. Digital Israel, the Innovation Authority and the Ministry of Economics have each presented their respective initiatives in promoting accessibility to technology for people with disabilities.
In addition to submitting a written comment, parts of which were cited in the RIC review, ITPI also supplied useful information gathered from various partners, locally and abroad.
