The region faced a range of complex issues, unlike anything seen before, with security concerns taking center stage and pushing privacy matters to the periphery.<br><br>Despite this turbulent environment, FPF-Israel\u00a0has persevered in addressing the pressing challenges the crisis has brought to light, particularly about memory and commemorative aspects\u00a0and the delicate balance between national security, privacy and data protection.\u00a0<br><br>Amid ongoing crises, Israel&#8217;s privacy protection law was significantly amended, primarily focused on significantly empowering the Privacy Protection Authority\u00a0to effectively address the growing challenges of data protection in the 21st century.\u00a0These changes help align Israel&#8217;s privacy standards with global norms, despite geopolitical instability.<br><br>Though 2024 was a year of hardship,\u00a0FPF-Israel&#8217;s resilience and dedication to its mission have remained steadfast. By continuing to advocate for privacy in an era of rapid technological advancements and security concerns, FPF-Israel has shown that even in the most difficult of times, the future of privacy must remain a priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here are some of FPF-Israel&#8217;s biggest moments of 2024:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/techpolicy.org.il\/he\/blog\/%d7%96%d7%9b%d7%95%d7%99%d7%95%d7%aa-%d7%a0%d7%95%d7%a9%d7%90%d7%99-%d7%9e%d7%93%d7%99%d7%a2-%d7%91%d7%93%d7%99%d7%9f-%d7%94%d7%99%d7%a9%d7%a8%d7%90%d7%9c%d7%99\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Data Subject Rights in Israeli Law<\/a>\u00a0(available in Hebrew) &#8211; Data protection legislation centers on giving individuals control over their personal information, primarily through consent. However, as data processing has advanced, it&#8217;s clear that consent alone isn\u2019t enough. This has led to the inclusion of additional rights to provide stronger protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/techpolicy.org.il\/he\/blog\/overview-of-amendment-no-13-to-the-israeli-privacy-law-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u05e1\u05e7\u05d9\u05e8\u05d4 \u05e9\u05dc \u05ea\u05d9\u05e7\u05d5\u05df \u05de\u05e1\u2019 13 \u05dc\u05d7\u05d5\u05e7 \u05d4\u05d2\u05e0\u05ea \u05d4\u05e4\u05e8\u05d8\u05d9\u05d5\u05ea<\/a>, approved on August 5, 2024 by the Israeli Knesset\u00a0showcasing a comparison of Amendment No. 13 to Israel&#8217;s Privacy Protection Act with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gdpr-info.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GDPR<\/a>\u00a0(EU) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oag.ca.gov\/privacy\/ccpa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CCPA<\/a>\u00a0(California).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/4dM6VWY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hebrew\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/4dM6VWY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">podcas<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/4dM6VWY\">t<\/a>\u00a0<em>CyberCyber<\/em>\u00a0with Noam Rotem, Ido Keinan, and Adv. Despite being seen by some as an unnecessary luxury in the digital age, privacy tends to be further overlooked in times of conflict. Much like the proverbial muses, when the cannons roar, privacy remains silent. On December 17,\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.il\/en\/departments\/ministry_of_science_and_technology\/govil-landing-page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Israel&#8217;s\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.il\/en\/departments\/ministry_of_science_and_technology\/govil-landing-page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology<\/a>\u00a0released a new AI policy. This document reviews the regulatory background, key principles of the policy, and offers brief comments on its pros and cons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All reviews, briefs, reports, and analyses were authored by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/rivki-dvash-84602b183\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adv.
