SUMMARY:Haifa Security and Privacy Research Seminar
DESCRIPTION:The fifth Haifa Security and Privacy Research Seminar that will be held at IBM Research – Haifa on December 2\, 2019. The seminar will provide a forum for the security communities from both academia and industry to share innovative work\, exchange ideas\, discuss progress\, and address challenges. \nThis year’s seminar will put emphasis on privacy preserving and trusted computing\, which allows companies to operate on protected data to ensure their clients’ privacy while keeping the data useful. It focuses how to apply mechanisms to preserve privacy\, such as encryption and multi-party computation – without giving up valuable information that can be derived from the data. This year’s Security & Privacy Seminar at IBM Research – Haifa will address these types of privacy preserving technologies in their various forms. \nThe seminar will take place in the IBM Research – Haifa auditorium. Participation is free of charge but registration is required. \n\n\n\n\n\n“Using digital tools and extracting value from information collected through them are a key to building and managing smart cities. On the other hand\, we want to avoid creating cities that embody a 1984 totalitarian future\, prevent discrimination against protected populations\, governing paternalism\, discipline\, and increased enforcement that permeates every single moment”\, said Limor Shmerling Magazanik\, managing director of The Israeli Tech Policy Institute\, at IBM’s Privacy & Security Annual Seminar\, today at the IBM Research Labs Haifa\, Israel.
